Autohydro Hydrostatics & Stability Supports European Shipbuilder

FOR RELEASE: JULY 21, 2026

Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) of Vancouver, Canada is pleased to announce that long time client West Sea Viana Shipyard of Viana do Castelo, Portugal has upgraded to the latest version of Autohydro Pro 6.13.

During the past 30 years, Autohydro Pro has been used by different generations of naval architects at West Sea who ensured that their design office was always using the latest version of the program.

“I’ve been using Autohydro on many large projects requiring the issuing of a hydrostatic & stability book for Class and the software always outputs the results demanded in the strict approval process.” says Mr. Andomarc Miranda, West Sea’s lead Naval Architect. “I recently ordered an upgrade to Autohydro Pro 6.13 and we’re looking forward to using the new enhancements featured in this new release. Like to thank Autoship Systems to their 30-year commitment in assisting our naval architects in using Autohydro on completing stability books on hundreds of different vessel types.”

During the development of the stability documentation for a state-of-the-art split hopper dredger, West Sea worked closely with ASC to define the requirements for a new ‘Sliding Cargo’ calculation method. This collaboration resulted in the introduction of the ‘/Sliding’ command feature in Autohydro 6.9, enabling compliance with Bureau Veritas BV requirements for this challenging vessel type.

Operating for over 30 years, West Sea (formerly ENVC – Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo) is a marine engineering and shipyard facility which has emerged as a leading designer and builder of river cruise vessels, Navy vessels, split hopper dredgers, and ocean-going and polar expedition cruise ships. Today, West Sea continues its operations from the historic shipyard at the charming old city of Viana do Castelo, where it has secured a strong position in the international shipbuilding market.
